It is common for furniture makers to keep their crafts as elegant as possible to attract consumers, but Reinier de Jong’s DOK Sideboar is quite the opposite. He intentionally used plain steel for the case and let it corrode until it brought out a brownish tone then he finished it with transparent lacquer to prevent further destructive oxidation. The result is a fine wood-like appearance that will perfectly blend on any room. Other features include plywood panels with a piano hinge and two pivot arms on each door. $TBA.
