64-Year-Old Macallan Single-Malt Whiskey

This 64-Year-Old Macallan Single-Malt Whiskey is the World’s Most Expensive Scotch Whiskey. It is housed in a one-of-a-kind Lalique crystal decanter and was sold for a record-breaking $460,000 at Sotheby’s in New York City on Monday night. The brand claims that this whiskey is the oldest and rarest that they have ever released since its founding in Scotland in 1824. The Lalique crystal decanter was made using the “cire perdue” or “lost wax” method. This has been stored for over 6 decades, in Spanish sherry casks since World War II. It has a diminished alcohol level of 42.5% which is just above the cut-off level for scotch classification.
